A successful partnership between Help – Hilfe zur Selbsthilfe (Mission in Kosovo), Muqa Solar Company L.L.C., and the Center for Independent Living (Qendra për Jetë të Pavarur) in Peja has resulted in the installation of a solar thermal water heating system, bringing tangible benefits to the Center and the people it serves.
The initiative builds on the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the three partners, with the shared objective of promoting renewable energy, improving energy efficiency, and supporting the independence and wellbeing of persons with disabilities in Kosovo. Through this collaboration, these commitments have now been translated into concrete action.
As part of its contribution, Muqa Solar donated and installed, free of charge, a complete solar thermal system for sanitary water heating, including all equipment, installation works, commissioning, and system programming. The system consists of a 300-liter water boiler, two 2.5m² thermal solar panels, a pump group with control unit, mounting structure, glycol, expansion vessel, and all accompanying components required for efficient operation.
Recognizing the Center’s significant need for sanitary hot water, this investment will ensure a more reliable, sustainable, and cost-effective supply of hot water for daily use. In addition to improving service conditions for beneficiaries and staff, the new system will contribute to reducing operational costs and increasing the Center’s energy efficiency.
This initiative demonstrates how renewable energy solutions can generate direct social impact. Beyond the environmental benefits of using clean energy, the project supports a more functional and sustainable environment for persons who rely on the services of the Center for Independent Living.
Help in Kosovo highly appreciates the commitment and generosity shown by Muqa Solar through this donation. The partnership serves as a positive example of how the private sector, civil society organizations, and development actors can work together to improve the quality of life of vulnerable groups and strengthen local communities.
By combining innovation, social responsibility, and sustainability, this collaboration contributes to a greener, more inclusive, and more resilient future for Kosovo.
